Our work has been powered by volunteers who have offered their time, skills, and hearts to help us build a world where adults with disabilities can thrive.
How Our Volunteers Show Up
This year, volunteers have supported 22plus in meaningful, hands-on ways to help make life easier, fuller, and more connected for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
From student interns who researched and verified hundreds of local resources, to professionals offering in-kind branding and communications support, to volunteers contributing to early program pilots, each effort has turned community-identified needs into practical tools and experiences.
At the core of this work is listening. Guided by what families and adults with IDD tell us they need—clearer information, stronger connections, and dignity-centered systems—volunteers help lighten the load for caregivers, expand access to trusted resources, and create spaces where adults with disabilities can design lives they love.
Volunteering FAQs
-
Anyone with a desire to contribute and learn. Students, recent grads, professionals, caregivers, siblings, advocates—we welcome all backgrounds and lived experiences.
-
We have opportunities in different areas. Volunteers can help research, verify, and organize disability-related resources for our national directory. You may also support community events, outreach, or content design, depending on your interests and skills. If you have an idea for a project that you think could benefit our community, feel free to reach out and let us know!
-
Timing: We’re flexible! Some volunteers join short-term to help on a specific project. Others have stayed involved for a semester or longer. We’re happy to work with you to find a time commitment that works for you.
Location: Most of our volunteer work is remote. You can join us from wherever you are. We’re also piloting some programs in South Florida, if you’re local and want to join us IRL.
